Why I’m starting up a company
December 2, 2007
When I managed the collectibles & entertainment categories at eBay, I did a lot of barter marketing.
This means that I looked for companies targetting the same niche targets as I did – collectors’s, gamers, music and movie buffs… In a lot of cases, these were existing online portals or offline tradefair organisers.
The deals we made usually involved in eBay giving exposure to these companies on our category portal pages and in our targetted newsletters while we would get for instance a free stand at the tradefair and be mentioned as sponsors.
It’s my conviction that these deals are beneficial for everybody: the targeting companies get well targetted exposure in a win-win deal and the targetted consumer or companies get relevant info and often free goodies.
As such, I think there is place for a nice new marketplace where niche marketeers get to find each other so they can do these kind of deals.
More info to follow….
