No,  techie I am not, but tenacious I can be.

No, not the name of my mistress, as EMMA stands for Executive Master in Marketing and Advertising.
At Solvay Business School, Brussels.

Slighty boring? I should hope not.
Anyway, all info is here so you at least know where I am.

On a serious note, I hope to acquire a better grasp of marketing and marketeers which should benefit the IntroNiche business.

Happy new year for everyone

December 31, 2007

Happy new year 2008 for everybody.

Hopefully, we’ll see the IntroNiche marketplace kicking off and being of good use for marketeers worldwide.

Best regards,

Sam

It looks like the Blognation group blog has joined the dead parrot club.

For all it’s shortcomings (in the funding & the founder’s transparancy apparantly), it did have the merit of broadcasting pretty interesting news from internet companies all over the world in a nice and orderly way.

Too bad for all the editors who put a lot of time and energy in it and too bad for me as I liked to read that blog quite a lot really.

For the USA news, there’s still the blogs in my favourites.
For the belgian fix, I’ll just revert to web2point0
Any tips on good similar blogs for Europe/worldwide?

Tradedoubler: nice people

December 5, 2007

I went for an interview at Tradedoubler today. Even though I am actually starting up this company.
But the job sounded really good, my selection agency was quite convincing and anyway, I always wanted to learn a bit more about the affiliation business model.

What struck me is that the people I met all seemed talented yet down to earth.
Their COO was in his early thirties, like me, as was the VP for Southern Europe.
Both of them did not have MBA’s and both started as account managers.
And the HR director seemed to have all her wits about her, not a common thing either.
Tradedoubler seems to place quite an importance on their people and their development.

Honestly, quite a nice suprise. I wonder how much of this attitude is based on the Swedish origins of this company? Is this why Scandinavian companies can get so big?

The only thing I can be slightly critical at is the offering on their website.
Can you find the difference between push, pull and campaigns? Or the pricing for this?
A bit more transparancy please…..

I can’t help but compare two articles I read today. One in the Financial Times states that “for nations, small is beautiful”, the other one, in the Financiele Tijd (flemish equivalent of the FT) provides nice data on the usage of business network sites, in Belgium. Read the rest of this entry »
